We met Thierry Lebraly through his wife, Anne-Fleur Broudehoux, the designer behind the label Roseanna. As a fashion photographer, Thierry had always worked with Anne-Fleur. Each Roseanna collection is inspired by a trip or a destination, and we wanted to do a collaborative project between Portraits de Villes and a fashion designer.
Anne-Fleur had to travel to the Mediterranean and they both set their sights on the city of Beirut, already so inspiring for a photographer, that Thierry wanted to capture in a more personal way. With carte blanche from us, they left together to find the real, locals’ Beirut.
Lebanese hospitality lived up to its reputation and for a few days, they lived like Beirutis, spent time with them, so Thierry could understand the sensitivity of a city that is pockmarked by its difficult history. He wandered the streets, cultural and sporting sites to better capture the beauty of the city.

Portraits de Villes is a collection of books, where an artist is given carte blanche to illustrate a city of his / her choice. Each book is a unique journey, guided by the singular gaze of an artist.
