When Charles arrived in the architecture studio in which I was working, he already knew how to do everything. Part artist, part cabinetmaker, he is incredibly talented. He revolutionized our rendering and influenced most of the studio with his technique. Beauty was central to his work, each of his images was a work of art that hugely influenced the way I work. Later on, when I was in competition against Charles for the Rome Prize that he eventually won, we got to know each other better and developed a mutual respect. When we were looking at doing Madrid, Charles was our go-to. His books are incredibly rich.
